This short MSc engagement activity asks you to reflect on one of the two case studies worked through in class during Weeks 3 and 4, either Toad Run or Necakno, Inc. The focus is not on summarising the case but on one thing you learned from it: a supply chain concept that became clearer, how your group worked together, or a skill you developed, explained through a recognised reflective model.
Task
Apply your knowledge and critical thinking by reflecting on one of the two case studies analysed in class (Toad Run OR Necakno, Inc.). Show your understanding of the course concepts, how they apply in practice, and how the experience helped you consolidate the theory discussed in class.
Reflection is not a summary of the case study. Go beyond describing what you learned about the context and consider what other skills you gained, for example what surprised, challenged or impressed you while working in a group on the case, and how you might change your practice going forward. The TU Dublin library guide on reflective practice (Gibbs’ reflective cycle, Kolb’s experiential learning model and Driscoll’s model) is recommended.
Assignment Specifications
- Prepare a reflective piece that focuses on one aspect of your learning from the case study you attended. This could be a theoretical concept the case helped you understand more clearly, how your group worked together, or a skill you developed. Discuss it in the context of your experience in class.
- The reflective piece should be approximately 500 words (±10%). The cover page and reference list are not included in the word count.
- Use appropriate in-text citations and a reference list for any sources consulted, following APA 7th edition referencing.
- If you used generative AI for idea generation or structuring, include a short statement after your reference list explaining how you used it.
Submission Requirements
- The cover page must include your name and student number, programme name, module name, the title of your reflective piece and the names of your tutors.
- Save the file as Surname_EngAct2LOGT9402 (e.g. Smith_EngAct2LOGT9402) and submit it in Word format on Brightspace.
- You may only reflect on the case study session you attended; a reflection on a case you did not attend receives a score of 0.
- Late penalties: 10 marks deducted within 24 hours of the deadline, then 2 marks per 24 hours (including weekends). Work submitted more than seven days late is marked with feedback, but the recorded mark will not exceed 50%.
Marking Criteria
| Criterion | Weight | Advanced (70%+) looks like |
| Relevance of reflection | 20% | Highly relevant and insightful; clearly shows meaningful engagement with the learning outcomes. |
| Depth of analysis | 25% | Sophisticated, critical analysis showing deep understanding of theoretical and practical aspects. |
| Interconnections with prior learning experience | 20% | Excellent synthesis of multiple learning experiences, theories and personal or professional insights. |
| Clarity, completeness and presentation | 25% | Exceptionally clear, coherent and professional writing with polished presentation. |
| Referencing accuracy and academic integrity (including transparency of GenAI use) | 10% | Exemplary APA 7th referencing; fully transparent about any AI or other aids used. |
Generative AI Use
The activity sits at Level 2 of the AI Assessment Scale: AI-assisted idea generation and structuring. AI may be used for brainstorming, creating structures and generating ideas, but no AI-generated content is allowed in the final submission.
Expert Guidance for Your LOGT9042 Reflective Piece
A 500-word reflection for LOGT9042 is easy to overwrite as a case summary, and that costs marks on relevance and depth. Pick one learning point from the Toad Run or Necakno session, such as the bullwhip effect, inventory trade-offs or how your group reached a decision, then walk it through Gibbs, Kolb or Driscoll so the piece moves from what happened to what you will do differently in practice. Link it to earlier modules or work experience and keep APA 7th citations tidy. Our reflective writing help can show you how to structure the piece, and students in the capital can use our assignment help in Dublin. You can also browse more TU Dublin assignment questions.
