Identify a leader of your choice.

  1. Discuss their key traits as a leader. (25 marks)
  2. Critically analyse their leadership approach and how it aligns with their traits (25 marks).
  3. Critically analyse the impact of their leadership on the organisation’s culture (50 marks).

Second Class Honour Grade 1 [60% – 69%]

  • Very good understanding of the subject with demonstrated very strong performance that engages substantially with the question that is being asked
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the key literature and theories in the field
  • Well-developed reasoning and persuasive argument style with evidence of ‘original’ thinking and insight that goes beyond understanding the subject in terms of its functional / operational role

Second Class Honour Grade 2 [50% – 59%]

  • Solid performance that addresses the question being asked but does not expand on any of the recent literature that advances our understanding of HRM in contemporary organizational situtations
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of the subject matter and many of the ‘mainstream’ theories associated with the topic
  • Relies heavily on what has been covered in class without much ‘independent’ learning evident
  • Arguments not fully supported by the literature or left incomplete

Pass [40% – 49%]

  • Acceptable engagement and ability to provide an adequate answer, although not necessarily addressing fully the question that is asked
  • Demonstrates a very basic understanding of the subject matter with no evidence of ‘independent’ learning or application of experiential knowledge to support arguments advanced
  • Argument style is unclear, cluttered and inconsistent with the literature

Fail [0% – 39%]

  • Unacceptable performance that demonstrates a total lack of engagement with the literature and subject matter
  • Very little evidence of any knowledge or understanding of the subject matter reflected in the illogical, inaccurate and incorrect arguments advanced
