Assignment Brief
This assignment requires you to analyse how your organisation manages interpersonal conflict, drawing on real workplace evidence, academic research, and relevant legal frameworks. The task is designed to connect theory with your own experience and encourage critical thinking about policy effectiveness.
PART A
Analyse the policies and procedures in place within your organisation for dealing with interpersonal conflict.
- What are the strengths of the current system?
- How does the system compare to other organisations? You should support your answer with academic research, and make reference to legislation or regulatory requirements.
PART B
Propose three evidence-based improvements to the organisation’s conflict-management policy or practice.
PART C
Personal Reflection
Reflect on your own experience and perspective:
- How do current conflict procedures affect you or your colleagues?
- Which improvement would you prioritise and why?
The assignment can be based on your experience in a current OR previous organisation.
Instructions for Learners
- Write a short general introduction that explains the organisational context and the impact of conflict.
- The learner is invited to briefly outline the key components in place in their organisation to deal with conflict and discuss how these components and the supporting procedures are in line with best practice. Your analysis should be informed and supported by academic research.
- The learner should research system(s) in place in other organisations and compare and contrast the selected organisation’s approach.
- The learner should make suggestions based on this research as to how they believe their system could be improved.
- The learner should then consider their personal experience and opinion of the system and potential improvements.
- Finally, in the conclusion, the writer will bring it the paper to an appropriate end.
