Aim of Assignment: The aim of this assignment is to give students extensive knowledge, understanding and competencies across a wide range of digital media design principles and practices; reviewing how digital media communication concepts relate to society, storytelling, and branding in the digital world.
Alignment with Module Learning Outcomes: The assignment aligns (fully or partially) with the following module learning outcomes:

LO1 Develop key skills across a wide range of digital media technologies and design solutions to create finished artwork for a desired digital marketing solution which is creative and engaging.

LO2 The ability to contribute significantly to the design, development, implementation, and research of effective digital media.

LO3 Comprehend and describe key issues and debates surrounding the development and evolution of new media technologies in society.

LO4 Present work that demonstrates a variety of technical skills in digital illustration and imaging. Develop techniques to meet or exceed project specifications.

Assignment Title and Criteria: Part 1: Digital Media Assets (40%)

PSD files onlymust be submitted for grading unless stated.

Now it is time to showcase your talents using Photoshop. You have been hired by SETU’s Green Campus committee to design digital assets to promote Green Week on SETU Carlow campus. Green week runs from Monday, March 2 – Friday, March 6, 2026.

The campaign theme is AI (ChatGPT) and Sustainability and needs to raise awareness, encourage student participation, and communicate sustainability in a creative, ethical, and engaging way; ultimately encouraging the target audience to make a difference.

You are tasked with creating:

1) Campaign planning and strategy overview.

2) An evergreen A1 portrait promotional poster

3) 2 social media posts

4) An animated GIF

5) A clipping mask for web

6) 1 short form video concept (CapCut or Canva)

7) A student engagement idea

Be sure to arrange components in a way that utilizes Design Principles and accomplishes the themes’ purpose. See additional assignment notes on assignment overview slides to ensure all included correctly.

Target audience and channel considerations should also be evident. Any design sketches should also be included in your final submission.

Adobe Photoshop/Photopea are the only design platforms allowed to be used unless indicated. PSD files only must be submitted for final grading.

  • Your completed digital design assets will be assessed and shared by a OneDrive link to Charlene.mcdonough@setu.ie on 23/02/26 by 11.59pm.
  • PSD files only allowed for grading unless stated.
  • The list of work included for this assignment is practical work undertaken in class. All parts listed must be completed for grading – please note each part carefully and include all the elements. Please back up all your work.
  • The coursework presented for assessment must be displayed in an attractive manner.

Part 2: Video Reflection (10%)

This is your opportunity to tell the story of your learning in this assignment. It will document your learning experiences across the tasks you have undertaken – how you have engaged with those tasks; what you have learned; what knowledge and skills you have developed; identify any gaps in your learning.

 

Note: Use the reflective learning Model PDF on Blackboard and incorporate a reflective model in your practice.

  • Upload file to your OneDrive (watch size) or upload the final video file to YouTube – make public, unlisted video. Share the link in your written document.
  • Video should be minimum 5 mins.
Word Count: No word count limit on assets or written pieces
