| Length | Approx. 1,000 words plus drawing |
The P&ID-1 task in VOMP3011 is the starting point for the module’s validation project. You sketch a bioreactor with its jacket, agitator and bottom outlet pump, add every process and utility line from aeration and CIP to SIP condensate, rupture-disc venting and pH control, and then explain the key performance requirements a bioreactor must meet, which later feed your URS and PQ tests.
P&ID-1: Bioreactor
Step 1-1: Sketch the bioreactor P&ID
Sketch a basic P&ID for a bioreactor with the following main equipment components (your sketch can be hand-drawn or done using a basic software drawing package):
- Bioreactor vessel, with heating and cooling jacket
- Bioreactor agitator
- Bioreactor bottom outlet pump
Include the following process and utility connections on your P&ID:
- Aeration supply to the bioreactor
- Aeration vent/exhaust from the bioreactor with pressure control
- CIP manifold supply to the bioreactor
- Inoculum supply to the bioreactor
- Media supply to the bioreactor
- Clean steam supply to the bioreactor for SIP
- Contaminated condensate (SIP) return
- Process water supply and return distribution to and from the bioreactor
- Over-pressurisation vent line to a catch tank via a rupture disc
- Antifoam addition
- Acid addition to the bioreactor for pH control
- Base addition to the bioreactor for pH control
- Bioreactor bottom outlet via pump to the harvest process manifold
- Thermal-exchange fluid supply and return to and from the bioreactor’s heating and cooling jacket (from a temperature control skid)
Step 1-2: Performance requirements
List the primary performance requirements associated with a bioreactor. Write a sentence or two to expand on each of your performance requirements.
Expert Guidance for Your VOMP3011 Bioreactor P&ID
The bioreactor P&ID looks simple until you try to show all fourteen connections clearly: students often miss the pressure control on the exhaust, confuse the CIP supply with the process water loop, or forget the rupture disc and catch tank. The performance requirements in Step 1-2 also need to be specific and testable, because they become the basis of your URS matrix and PQ protocol later in the module. Our technical report writing services can help you explain each requirement clearly, and our coursework help in Ireland supports pharma and biotech modules. See the full VOMP 3011 assignment descriptor for the later URS and PQ deliverables.
