Assignment Guidelines:

• The student must demonstrate evidence of searching and retrieving appropriate academic literature. The assignment requires you to utilize a variety of reputable sources (books, nursing journals, allied health journals, professional websites, etc), but your focus should be on articles from reputable journals. The skills required to source and retrieve relevant literature will be demonstrated in the library tutorials provided.
• Both assignment titles realize the potential for success and you will need to find sources on this, from a general education perspective and if available from a nursing/midwifery perspective.
• The assignment should be written in the third person.
• The focus of this assignment is on the planning and structure (see outline below) of an academic piece of work.

Introduction

The introduction should succinctly introduce the reader to the context of the subject matter of the assignment. For example, if you chose assignment a) you should introduce the reader to the essence of reading and its importance of reading proficiency to academic success.

Furthermore, a good introduction should inform the reader of the themes/topics/issues that are going to be discussed in the main body and generally demonstrates structured thinking in relation to the topic area.
