With reference to the above paper:

• Identify the skills necessary and the issues to consider when having healthy conversations with patients and/or their carers/relatives.
• Critically discuss how health literacy impacts on health promotion activities within health care settings.
• Describe the potential of this approach in your nursing practice with reference to health promotion approaches/theory and current policy.

Essay 2

According to Woods (2022)

“Health promotion interventions are designed to maintain and improve the population’s health by addressing the wider underlying causes of ill-health and mortality, rather than focusing on disease and illness. Nurses have an important role in promoting health and preventing ill health” ( pg .44)

• With reference to the above quote/paper critically discuss how nurses within your discipline can implement health promotion/illness prevention within their clinical settings;

Acute hospitals, residential settings, community ( including primary care) work with individuals, families, or with groups of patients/clients/residents.

• Consider the role of individual-level, bottom-up approaches or policy interventions that empower nurse health promoters in addressing and reducing health inequalities. You may include an example of Irish public health policy which is tasked with  addressing health inequalities.
