Section A – Topical issue (spanning both Microeconomic and Macroeconomic issues)

One COMPULSORY Question (i.e. 1 question from 1, no choice)

It is a practical question dealing with the economic impact of COVID-19.  You may use the Irish economy or any other economy (maybe your home economy) as the backdrop to this.   It deals with the impact on consumers, workers, businesses, the various sectors, and the overall economy.  The lecture on this topic is the most important source.

Section B – Microeconomics

Do one question from a choice of two, each worth 35 marks.

The questions deal with

The topic of elasticities and their application

The topic of costs and their evolution as companies and sectors grow in scale

Section C – Macroeconomics

Do one question from a choice of two, each worth 35 marks.

The questions deal with

A specific aspect from the topic of the objectives of macroeconomic policy and the relevance of these to companies.

The general area of the approaches to the management of the economy by the Government and the challenges of these.

So you must do the compulsory question in Section A and one question from each of Sections B and C.

As the time is relatively short, the expectation on my part will reflect that.  So you should allocate your time broadly in accordance with the marks for each question and parts of the questions.
