Identify a health promotion topic and use health promotion theory or principles to explain how a broad-ranging strategy could be developed for that topic.

You need to provide a rationale for your choice of topic. Why is this topic important? This must be based on evidence. For example, you can use government reports such as Healthy Ireland or other reports or strategies relating to your topic.

You can then use any theory, framework, or principles to plan your strategy. E.g. Naidoo and Wills’ (2009, 2016) 5 approaches to health promotion, the Ottawa Charter, (WHO, 1986) or WHO’s 11 principles of health promotion (Rootman et al, 2001)

You must use all aspects of the model or framework to demonstrate full understanding. E.g. if you are using Naidoo and Wills 5 approaches, you must explain how each approach could be used to promote health in your topic area.

Your essay should be clearly structured, with an introduction outlining the essay, the main body where you explain the strategy using the theory or principles, and a summary and conclusion.
