Critically evaluate the extent to which social media influences our view of ourselves and our interactions with the social world.

So split the question into two sections. Speak about the positive and negatives of both:

Meaning-

First half:

Talk about the extent to which social media influences our view of ourselves

• The main point on body image: talk about the importance of Instagram (TriggeermannZaccardo Article, “#fitspiration #thinspiration, etc.)
• Use ideas from the ‘Self in Social World Social Psychology pdf/slides for points to incorporate, Manago et al. 2015 article.
• Also, we can talk about how it leads to negative effects, eg. Eating disorders… ….Bulimia nervosa/ anorexia (I will attach slideshow on this, for the general idea and also a reading list in the resource guidelines document)

Second half:

Talk about how social media influences our interactions with the social world.

• Talk about the Effects on relationships and communications (I will attach pdf slides of this also- Love, Relationships…pdf) positive and negative effects.
• Talk about the topic of Catfishing also as an example.
