| University | Munster Technological University (MTU) |
You are a transport consultant specializing in fleet operations. Your manager has given you the Freight Transport Association of Irelands (FTAI) Managers Guide to Distribution Costs. This guide is aimed at helping fleet managers to benchmark the cost of doing business.
You are required to review the document and provide a report to your manager. You are to benchmark two of the companies listed below and determine their fleet and transport costs compared to the report and then make recommendations for improvement.
The report should cover
- Fleet Operation policy determines their unique/specific fleet requirements and how they operate. Do some research on what are they currently running and in your opinion how could this be improved.
- Breakdown of the relevant vehicle fleet costs for each company. Determine the maintenance and running costs of the vehicle fleets. Do some digging and try to determine the costs to be taken into consideration.
- Recommend some “sustainability” initiatives that they could implement which would result in a reduction in overall cost.
