Jack is finding the transition from primary school to secondary school difficult and teachers have found him to be quite disruptive in class. He tends to be overactive and has difficulty concentrating. He is fidgety and restless, easily distracted, and continually talks out of turn. On a routine visit to Jack’s home, the Home School Liaison officer met with Jack’s mother. She discovered that, up until recently, Jack lived alone with his mother. However, a short time ago, his mother’s long-term partner moved into the house, along with his seven-year-old son.
