6N1975 Disability Awareness Assignment: Needs, Supports & Inclusion in Irish Education and Employment

GENERAL CRITERIA

This project requires the learner to reflect on the needs people with disabilities in relation to 3
specific conditions. You should identify the causes and effects of people with the chosen
conditions and outline the difficulties such people face in mainstream society. Assistive
technology and aids that can be used to improve quality of life for people diagnosed with
these 3 conditions should be noted. Additionally, you should review Irish public policy and
legislation in relation to the inclusion of people with disabilities in Irish society. Finally, you
should critically reflect on your own attitude toward people with disabilities in Irish society
and propose how you can improve upon your existing skill set.

support people with disabilities within the education, training or employment sector. You
should critically evaluate your work practice policies and identify the strengths and
weaknesses with regard to the inclusion people with disabilities within the organisation. The
assignment should conclude with a statement of personal learning as a result of undertaking
the project.
