Part 2
Write up independently, follow these headings:
Introduction – 5 marks
Here, give background information (what it is eg sex differences, gender differences) and how it is portrayed in society eg gender role socialisation eg My Shadow is Pink; eg EDI /charter & Guidelines for ELC
How does gender and play support children’s learning. (What are children learning by the different roles in play ?
Research – 8 marks
Show evidence of your research through citations and links in your writing.
Evaluation & Recommendations – 5 marks
express your thoughts on the issue (eg What do you think of stereotyping?
Do you think we should have diversity and variety in play?)
Give recommendations on what you feel adults can do to make changes in the setting, regarding this issue?
Reflection – 5 marks

Group discussion (To take place in class) – 5 marks
You will then be assigned a group to discuss all the above with.
We will record your group discussion, so please be sure you have given your view and took part in the discussion. The group recordings will be on Friday 10th Nov 2023, 12-2pm class.
Points for the discussion are:
a. Awareness of the topic,
b. How gender stereotyping in play can be seen in action in the setting (positives & negatives)
c. How gender stereotyping can impact on children’s development and
d. How to plan for activities so adults promote gender diversity in play
