Format
Each learner will choose a sample client as a case study for their Skills Demonstration.
The sample client will have a special need that the learner will outline and provide information about how best to communicate with the client.
The learner will be assessed in a broad range of practical skills, following this format:
- Select one of the following medical conditions:
- Sensory Impairment
- Dementia
- Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease (Emphysema, Bronchitis, Heart Failure)
- Stroke (Cerebral Vascular Accident)
- Research and describe the condition to include any barrier to communication that may be caused by the condition and ways to promote effective communication.
- Describe the actions involved in the task* and a variety of ways to:
- Meet client needs respectfully
- Promote Independence and dignity
- Maintain client safety and carer safety during the process
- Communicate with the client, team members, multidisciplinary team & client’s family
NOTE: Mobility assisting will only be assessed for learners who provide evidence of a valid manual handling & people moving certificate.
